TUSCALOOSA ?? Compliments of its two tournament championships, Golfweek has ranked the University of Alabama golf team No. 1 in its latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.

Alabama has played two tournaments so far this season, winning both. Alabama bested a field of 18 teams in the Carpet Capital Classic where the team finished 23 under par on September 17 then bettered a field of 15 teams Tuesday, finishing five over par, to win the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate.

In Golfweek’s player rankings, Alabama’s Michael Thompson is ranked fifth, Gator Todd 11^th Thomas Hagler 18^th, Matthew Swan 31^st and Mark Harrell 39^th , finding all five of Alabama’s golfers who have competed so far this season ranked among the top 50.
