
Jung and Myneni Win Baylor Invitational Doubles Title

WACO, Texas ?? Alabama’s doubles duo of Joseph Jung and Saketh Myneni claimed the Baylor HEB Invitational Championship Sunday with an 8-5 win over Javier Herrera and Deigo Mattar of UT-Arlington.
For Jung, it is his first career doubles title. Myneni, a freshman, earns a championship in his first collegiate tournament.
“It was a great effort by Joe and Saketh to capture the doubles championship after being down a match-point in the first round,” Alabama head coach Billy Pate said. “They continued to improve as a team as the tournament progressed.”
Junior Taylor Striplin competed in the semifinals of the consolation draw against Rice’s Dennis Polykov. Striplin claimed the opening set but lost the final two 6-4, 10-7.
In all, Alabama players posted a 9-5 record in the tournament.
“It was a great tournament for us,” Pate said. “We were successful on the court and gained a lot of match-play experience.”
