
Freshman Leads Men?s Cross Country to Crimson Classic Win

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ?? The Alabama men’s cross country team won the Crimson Classic here today led again by freshman sensation Emmanuel Bor.
Bor outraced Ole Miss freshman Barnabas Kirui over the 8-kilometer course 24:06.7 to 24:09.85.
“That’s as fast as I can remember two guys running at this meet,” Alabama cross country coach Joe Walker said. “Considering the heat, I thought it was a very good race, one that we can build on as we go forward.”
Alabama finished 31 points better than second place Mississippi State and nearly 90 points better than third place Ole Miss.
Tide sophomores Augustus Maiyo and Abraham Kutinagala finished third and fourth respectively while junior Alex Korir and sophomore Titus Koeh took eigth and ninth to secure the Tide’s team victory. Maiyo crossed the line at 24:41.83, followed by Kutingala at 24:54.45. Korir posted a 25:31.53 while Koeh finished at 25:34.53.
It was the second win in as many weeks for both Alabama and Bor. Both took top honors at the UTC-Opener in Nashville last weekend, leading the Tide to a 40
Alabama returns to action Friday, September 29 at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Eugene, Ore.
