Taylor Named SEC Freshman Athlete of the Year

Alabama freshman track and field star Chealsea Taylor has been named female SEC Outdoor Freshman Athlete of the Year by a vote of the league coaches.
The Denver, Colo. native was a regional qualifier for the Crimson Tide in the high jump this season. Taylor cleared a mark of 5-11.75 which ranked fourth in the conference this season. She also finished in an eighth place tie at the SEC Championships and placed second in the event at the Drake Relays.
Taylor was also Alabama's leading long jumper during the outdoor campaign with a season best 18-10.75 at the SEC Championships.
The honor is the first ever for SEC Freshman Athlete of the Year for Alabama.
