Crimson Tide sophomore first baseman Dani Woods was named this week’s SEC Player of the Week as announced by the league office this afternoon.
Woods was .500 (5-10) against Arkansas with two doubles, six RBI and three runs scored while tallying a .700 slugging percentage in helping Alabama go 3-0 during the weekend and clinch its first ever SEC Championship with a series sweep of Arkansas.. She was also perfect in the field recording 25 putouts and registering a 1.000 fielding percentage. Woods drove in the game-tying run in Game 1 of the series and the game-winning runs in Game 2 of the series against Arkansas, which clinched the SEC Championship.
The honor marks the third time this season Woods has received an SEC award and the 12th time this season the team has received a weekly award from the league office. It also marks the 44th time in school softball history that Alabama has received one of the SEC’s weekly honors, which is the most among softball programs in the SEC.
