It's time.
With the cross country travel and the practice day behind them, the Alabama Gymnastics team is ready for the NCAA West Regional Championships, the gateway to the NCAA Championship final site, to get underway.
The No. 5 Crimson Tide faces No. 8 Stanford, the host school, and No. 15 Oregon State, host of the NCAA Championships, along with No. 26 Boise State, No. 31 Sacramento State and No. 35 San Jose State here in Maples Pavilion in Palo Alto, Calif. starting at 6 p.m. PT. There are six regional sites scattered around the country with two berths each to the NCAA Championships final site in Corvallis, Ore. April 20-22.
The Central region was held yesterday in Baton Rouge, La. and LSU and Oklahoma have already punched their ticket for Corvallis. By the time the West regional gets underway, the remaining regionals will have been decided, and all eyes will have turned to Palo Alto, Calif. Live scoring and commentary for the meet can be found at www.gymtide.com and the Tide's live radio broadcast can be heard on WVUA-FM in Tuscaloosa or online at www.bcmonsters.com.
Alabama, in its 25th consecutive NCAA Regional Championship, is only school not native to the West regional and is the No. 1 seed here. The Tide is attempting to advance to its 24th consecutive NCAA Championship final site and maintain the second longest streak in the nation.
