The hosts from the University of Georgia stands atop the leaderboard after moving past second-place Wake Forest in second-round action. Auburn, Vanderbilt and Kent State make up the remainder of the top five.
It certainly was not a day to remember for the Tide, as just two of the competing players for the team broke 80 in the second 18 holes of play and Alabama has just one player in the top 15 in the individual standings.
Jenny Suh continues to lead the Tide, as she has for much of the season. Suh posted a 78 in the second round after a 74 on the first day and is tied for 12th place. Suh is shooting for her 18th career top-10 finish at the event and is a single stroke off of top-10 pace.
Laura Goodwin remains in the top 40 in the individual standings after shooting an 80 in the second round. Goodwin, who played the best golf of her career at the LSU/Cleveland Classic earlier this spring, has a 158 after 36 holes this weekend, good enough for a tie for 40th place.
Carina Sorensen knocked 10 strokes off of her first-round 87 and is tied for 65th place after two rounds of play. Sarah Sturm and Audrey Gale are also competing for the Tide at the event.
Alabama will finish action at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, the final event before the 2006 SEC Championship, on Sunday, March 26.
