Alabama Swimming and Diving Signs Daniel Armstrong
TUSCALOOSA, Ala ??The University of Alabama Swimming and Diving program signed Daniel Armstrong to a national letter of intent in the early signing period according to head coach Eric McIlquham. Armstrong will wear the crimson and white of Alabama starting with the 2007-2008 season.
“Daniel is the best all around male high school swimmer in the state of Alabama,” McIlquham said. “He is the defending state champion in the 200 IM and is looking to win a couple of events this year. Daniel will be a good asset to our programs, both during the regular season as well as postseason. He has a tremendous feel for the water and huge potential.”
Armstrong led Bob Jones High School to two state titles and was the team captain in 2005 and 2006 as well as MVP in 2004 and 2005. He holds the state record in the 200 IM and is an All-American and Scholastic All-American.
“ I chose Alabama because I got along well with the coaches and team,” Armstrong said. “I loved the campus, as well as the athletic facilities. I feel that Alabama will give me the education I need to be successful.”
A native of Madison, Ala., he swims for Mike Gunner at Bob Jones. Armstrong also swims for the Madison Swim Association for Roger von Jouanne.
