
Alabama Soccer Falls at Auburn

Auburn, Al?? The University of Alabama Soccer team finished their season with 6-1 loss at Auburn Friday night. The Tide will finish the 2006 season in fourth place in the Southeastern Conference Western Division.
Auburn (11-4-3, 5-3-3 SEC) took a 1-0 lead on a Jenni Prescott goal just under six minutes into the game. Prescott dribbled into the 18 yard box and fired a left footed shot into the top right corner for the games first points. The Tigers added to their lead in the 37th minute when Kristin Stewart’s shot rolled past Alabama keeper Kara Gudmens diving effort.
Alabama (5-14-0, 1-10 SEC) cut the Auburn lead in half just over a minute into the second period. Bama’s Natalie Kohn fired a corner kick into the 18 yard box and Suzie Beard was there to knock it into the back of the net to make the score 2-1.
Auburn took a 3-1 advantage on a penalty kick goal by Amanda Garcia in the 68th minute. Less than a minute later Rhonda Brooks added another goal for the Tigers. In the 70th minute Kara Kasten added the fifth goal of the night for Auburn. The Tigers added their final goal of the evening when Rebecca Howell found the back of the net in the 72nd minute.
Alabama will return 21 players from this season for the 2007 campaign. This was the final game at Alabama for three seniors: Emily Pitek, Gillian Kilburn and Suzanne Baker.
