Jenny Suh, an All-American at Furman who will compete for the Tide on the links this fall, has been named to the prestigious Golfweek pre-season women’s collegiate top 10 list. The list was released in the most recent edition of the magazine. Suh occupies the tenth spot on the pre-season list.
“Certainly, Jenny was one of the top All-Americans coming back from a year ago,” Potter said. “It wasn’t a big surprise to me to see her ranked as highly as she was, especially after her performance in the U.S. Amateur this summer. I anticipate another great season for Jenny.”
Suh was also featured in a related article in the magazine. The piece discusses her relationship with head coach Mic Potter, who recruited her to Furman and helped her become an All-American. Suh obtained her release from Furman after Potter accepted the head coaching post at Alabama and will compete for the Crimson Tide this fall.
The Fairfax, Va., native was a second-team All-American at Furman for Alabama Potter last season. She had six top-10 finishes and won two tournaments last season for the Paladins.
Suh won the Southern Conference title as a sophomore and tied for 45th at last year’s NCAA Championship. She finished the season ranked 17th by Golfweek and was a quarterfinalist in this summer’s U.S. Women’s Amateur.
Suh and Potter will make their Crimson Tide debuts next weekend when Alabama hosts the Ann Rhoads Invitational at the Ol’ Colony Golf Complex in Tuscaloosa. The event will be a 54-hole, three day tournament, with play beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18. One round is scheduled for each day, with the final round scheduled to begin with a shotgun start on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8 a.m.
