Williams Named USOC Athlete of the Month

The U.S. Olympic Committee has named U.S. elite triathlete Susan Williams, a former University of Alabama swimmer, its female athlete of the month for June.
On June 12, Williams (Littleton, Colo.) won San Francisco's Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, one of the most popular international triathlons in the United States. On June 12, Williams completed the 1.5-mile swim, 18-mile bike and eight-mile run in 2:20:09. Two weeks later, she won the Buffalo Springs Lake Half Ironman Triathlon (1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run) in Lubbock, Texas in 4:31:03.
In 2004, Williams became the first U.S. triathlete to win an Olympic medal when she finished third at the women's triathlon in Athens, Greece.
