Former Crimson Tide golfer Jason Bohn has claimed his first PGA Tour event victory. The University of Alabama graduate set a tournament record total Sunday to win the B.C. Open in Endicott, N.Y.
“You don’t really expect when your first win is going to come,” said Bohn, 32, whose previous pro wins have included the 2000 Canadian PGA Shell Payless Open, the 2003 Chattanooga Open and the 2001 Canadian PGA Bayer Championship. “I hadn’t played well this year. I missed a lot of cuts, and I haven’t seen that many great things come out of my game. And then this week I kind of got turned around.”
Bohn, in his second year on the PGA Tour after five on the Canadian Tour, finished 24-under par, posting a tournament score of 264. He shot six under par, 66, in back-to-back rounds in his final two rounds to win by a stroke.
A native of Mifflinburg, Pa., Bohn first made national headlines as a Crimson Tide golfer in 1992 when he had to give up his eligibility to accept the prize money after making a million dollar hole in one at an event at the university’s golf course.
