AUGUSTA, GA. - Playing under windy conditions, the University of Alabama is in sixth place out of 18 teams here at the Augusta State Invitational.
Originally, the first 36 holes of the tournament were to be played on Saturday. But rules officials suspended play early in the second round Saturday afternoon after wind gusts downed trees on the course and made conditions dangerous for both the golfers and the spectators. None of the second round scores will count when the players return to the course Sunday morning as they'll re-start the second round at 7 a.m. CT then follow with the third and final round around noon CT.
East Tennessee State leads the field of 18 teams, shooting 15 over par in Saturday morning's opening round, carding 303. ETSU is one stroke ahead of tournament host Augusta State which shot 304.
