
2005 SEC Golf Good Works Team Announced

Birmingham, Ala -- The SEC sponsors Good Works Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Good Works Team highlights a student-athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts. This season's Golf Good Works Team follows:
MEN'S GOLF
Lance Walker, Junior, Trussville, Ala. (University of Alabama) A telecommunications and film/marketing major, Walker was served on the board of the UA Student-Athlete Advisory Council and has been active in Project Angel Tree, Beat Auburn-Beat Hunger Food Drive, Read Across America, the SAAC Halloween Party and a volunteer at the Alabama Golf Camp, teaching kids golf.
Jay Moseley, Sophomore, Bainbridge, Ga. (Auburn University) A business administration major, Moseley has volunteered his time for Toys for Tots, Beat Bama Food Drive, local clothing drives and has been a local coordinator for Read Across America. He also participated in the 2004 NCAA Regional Leadership Conference.
Manuel Villegas, Freshman, Medellin, Columbia (University of Florida) Villegas has participated in Florida Field Day and has visited children at Shands Hospital. The redshirt freshman is also on Florida's Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
Butler Melnyk, Junior, Jacksonville, Fla. (University of Georgia) A business major, Melnyk has visited local elementary schools and has worked at golf camps and clinics. Through his involvement with the UGA Student-Athlete Advisory Council, he has also helped raise money for needy families at Thanksgiving and has helped to gather presents for children at Christmas.
Matt Wells, Senior, Wilmington, N.C. (University of Kentucky) A marketing and management major, Wells has worked teaching character lessons to elementary school students in "Cats Cultivating Character"
program. He has been active in Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life for American Cancer Society, YMCA and the Hope Center. He has also visited patients at the UK Children's Hospital.
Garrett Runion, Sophomore, Orlando, Fla. (Louisiana State University) Runion helps coordinate the annual Halloween Bazaar, which gives local children the opportunity to trick-or-treat and participate in games and activities with LSU student-athletes. He also helps coordinate the annual Christmas Toy Drive and the Thanksgiving Food Drive and has taught golf lessons to area children. He is a member of the LSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Jarrod Gardner, Senior, Austin, Texas (University of Mississippi) A marketing major, Gardner has been active in "Reading with the Rebels,"
a project where student-athletes read to children at local elementary schools, and Toys for Tots. He has helped put together a Halloween Carnival for children and visited local retirement centers spending time with senior citizens. He is also a member of the Ole Miss Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Jared Jiminez, Junior, Allen, Texas (Mississippi State University) As a member of the M-Club, Jimenez was part of Bully's Book Blitz, a program designed to encourage and improve reading skills. The M-Club joined with the India Student Association and the MSU Student Association to provide support to the Tsanami Clothing Drive.
West Streib, Junior, Atlanta, Ga. (University of South Carolina) A business major, Streib has participated in The Next Step Foot Clinic - Foot Ministry for The Homeless at Christ Ministries and has visited special education students for Exceptional Children's Week at Harbison West Elementary School. He has also volunteered to help low-income and elderly families with their income tax return forms.
Chris Robinson, Senior, Memphis, Tenn. (University of Tennessee) A classical civilization major, Robinson has helped prepared and served meals at local homeless shelters and been a guest reader at elementary schools. He has volunteers with the local Boys and Girls Club, Special Olympics, Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is also a member of the UT and SEC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Mark Donnell, Senior, Mobile, Ala. (Vanderbilt University) A human and organizational development major, Donnell has volunteered his time at local homeless shelters, helped put together a Christmas party for Nashville inner-city children, has been a tutor for English as a second language and the Renewal House, a center for single mothers recovering from drug or alcohol abuse, and their children.
WOMEN'S GOLF
Lisa Andrzejewski, Sophomore, Orchard Park, N.Y. (University of Alabama) A business major, Andrzejewski has volunteered twice a week with the RISE Program, assisting developmentally challenged children. She has also been a frequent visitor to local elementary schools and has participated in the golf team's Christmas Party and Golf Clinic for young adults of the Crossing Point Program, assisting special need college students.
Lina Axelsson, Senior, Roasjo, Sweden (University of Arkansas) A finance major, has served as a volunteer for "Race for the Cure," as well as local Girl Scout groups, Arkansas Athletes Outreach and local Boys and Girls Clubs. She has spent time teaching golf to local youth and participated in 5K races to benefit charities. She is active in "Sweat Hawgs," helping youth understand the benefits of exercise.
Kingsley Barrett, Senior, Gainesville, Ga. (Auburn University) An accounting major, Barrett has volunteered her time at the Diabetes Clinic in Auburn and is a member of the American Diabetes Association.
She spends time reaching to children at Yarborough Elementary School in Auburn and assists with canned food drives, clothing drives and Toys for Tots. She is a member of the Auburn Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Camila Gonzalez, Junior, Bucaramanga, Columbia (University of Florida) An accounting major, Gonzalez has participated in Florida's Goodwill Gators program for three years, serving the community and promote the personal growth of student-athletes. She was named to the NGCA All-American Scholar Golf Team in 2003-04.
Jackie Beers, Junior, Warner Robins, Ga. (University of Georgia) A speech communication major, Beers has tutored children at local elementary schools, assisted with the "Toys for Tots" Christmas campaign and has served as a guest reader at local elementary and middle schools.
She is on the UGA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has helped coordinate the committee's help to familes for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
Stacy Springer, Senior, St. Charles, Ill. (University of Kentucky) An integrated strategic communications major, Springer is active in the Makenna Foundation, helping to raise funds for the University of Kentucky Children's Hospital. She has volunteered with "Cats Cultivating Character" and has visited children at local elementary schools. She has also spent time with the Salvation Army and the Hope Center.
Brooke Shelton, Senior, Plano, Texas (Louisiana State University) A business/marketing major, Shelton helps coordinate the annual Halloween BOOzar, the Christmas Troy Drive and a student-athlete talent show that has raised money for Robyn DesOrmeaux, an LSU women's soccer player battling cancer. A member of LSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Council, she has also visited children in local hospitals.
Nikki Hadd, Senior, Crestview, Fla. (University of Mississippi) A management major, Hadd has been active in "Reading with the Rebels," a project where student-athletes read to children at local elementary schools. As a member of Ole Miss' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, she has been active in the SAAC Food Drive as well as "Toys for Tots."
Beth Irwin, Senior, Germantown, Tenn. (Mississippi State University) An economics major, Irwin has taught junior golf clinics during the summers in the Memphis area. She has also been active in the Susan G.
Komen Breast Cancer Golf Tournament in Memphis. She has also participated in the Angel Tree program, providing gifts for children at Christmas.
Laura McCaslin, Junior, Cookeville, Tenn. (University of South Carolina) A sports and entertainment management major, McCaslin has participated in the George I. Pair Elementary School Reading Program, the Teddy Bear Drive for State Troopers, World Children's Day, Harvest Hope Food Drive, Coaches vs. Cancer and Toys for Tots. She has also visited children at Palmetto Hospital.
Jessica Shepley, Senior, Oakville, Ontario (University of Tennessee) A public relations major, Shepley is part of the Lady Vol Golf Pen Pal program, and "Take Back the Night," a program speaking out against violence against women and domestic violence. She has helped gather clothing donations for the Sexual Assualt Crisis Center and participated in a Canned Food Drive for the Second Harvest Food Bank. A member of the UT Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, she has also been active in the local Boys and Girls Club.
Kristen Svicarovich, Sophomore, Hillsboro, Ore. (Vanderbilt University) A civil engineering major, Svicarovich is active in Vandy's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She has visited patients at the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and has helped stage a Christmas Party for Nashville inner-city youth.
