Bama Women's Golf Concludes Play at Liz Murphey Classic

ATHENS, Ga. – Senior Megan George carded a final round 75 on Sunday to finish tied for 12th overall in the 37th annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the UGA Golf Course.
George, who finished with a three-round total of 225, was the Tide’s top performer at the Liz Murphey Classic leading Alabama to a 17th-place finish at the event. Junior Carina Sorensen also posted a solid finishing round shooting a 79 on Sunday to finish tied for 75th (244).
Freshman Emily Sykes finished tied for 80th (247) after posting an 84 on Sunday with sophomore Amy Middleton 88 (252/ T89th) and junior Audrey Gale 90 (252/ T89th) rounding out the Crimson Tide’s lineup at the tournament.
Georgia, the host of the event, completed their wire-to-wire victory in the team competition posting a score of 892, 13 shots in front of runner-up LSU (905). Auburn finished tied for third with Tulane at 908 with Tennessee (909) rounding out the Top Five teams. UGA’s Kelly Froelich carded a 218 to earn a two-shot win in the individual medallist competition.
Alabama now takes three weeks off from competition before returning to the course on April 15-17 at the SEC Championship Tournament, the regular season finale. The SEC Championship will be hosted by Ole Miss at the Tunica (Miss.) National Golf Club.
