TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama women's basketball team will conclude the regular season portion of its schedule against No. 5 Tennessee on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum.
The game will mark the final home appearance for the Crimson Tide trio of seniors Monique Bivins, Natasha Gamble and Katie Sipe. Sunday's contest will also mark the last home game for UA head coach Rick Moody, who will be retiring at the end of the current season. The seniors and Moody will all be honored in pre-game ceremonies.
Alabama enters Sunday's finale holding a 13-13 overall record and a 4-9 mark in Southeastern Conference play. The Tide has dropped their last five games heading into their match-up with the nationally-ranked Lady Vols.
Tennessee is 22-4 this season (12-1 SEC) and has won 14 of their last 15 games including a current four-game win streak. UT head coach Pat Summitt needs just six victories to pass Dean Smith as the winningest coach in NCAA basketball history.
In addition to the pre-game festivities, the Alabama women's basketball team is also welcoming back all its former players to the game as part of an "Alumni Reunion Weekend" celebration. All returning Crimson Tiders will be recognized at halftime of Sunday's game.
Sports Talk 1420 AM "The Tusk" and New Rock 90.7 FM (WVUA) will carry all the action of the game live on the radio as well as over the internet at www.rolltide.com. Live statistics are also available on the women's basketball page of the Bama Athletics website: www.rolltide.com.
Following the Tennessee game, Moody and the Tide will turn their attention to next week's SEC Championship Tournament. Alabama joins the other 11 teams in the league in Greenville, S.C. The tournament begins on Thursday, Mar. 3 and concludes next Sunday (Mar. 6) at the Bi-Lo Center.
