The Crimson Tide women’s basketball will be signing autographs and greeting fans on the Quad prior to the Alabama-Utah State football game on Saturday. The team will be present between 12:15 and 1 p.m., and will sign a team photograph for any fans present.
Alabama fans will have the opportunity to meet 11 of the 12 members of the 2005-06 Crimson Tide team, including senior center Dee Merriweather, who ranks fifth on the UA all-time blocked shot charts. Marverly Nettles will be the only Alabama player not present, as the junior guard was voted as a member of the 2005 Homecoming Court.
First-year head coach Stephany Smith will also be available for fans on the Quad. Smith will be present after 12:30 to sign and greet Tide fans. Smith will enter her first season at the helm at the Capstone following a highly successful eight-year run at Middle Tennessee State.
The women’s basketball team will also be available for fans following the homecoming football game, as the team will play in the Crimson & White scrimmage in the CAVE. That scrimmage will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is open for any and all fans to attend.
Alabama will begin the season with an exhibition match-up with West Alabama on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. in the CAVE. The first game in the newly renovated Coleman Coliseum will be on Friday, Nov. 18, when the Tide women play host to Washington at 5:30 p.m.
