The Alabama women’s basketball team was among those featured on the second of two days of SEC basketball media days in Birmingham. First-year head coach Stephany Smith, as well as senior post players Dee Merriweather and Krystle Johnson represented the Tide at the event.
The three Tide representatives spent the morning meeting with several media outlets, including the print media, radios and television networks. Each also took several promotional shots for use in television broadcasts throughout the season.
Media members also voted for pre-season league awards during their two-day stay. Tennessee was tabbed as the favorite in the conference, with LSU, Georgia, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss rounding out the pre-season top five picks. Seimone Augustus of LSU led the voting for All-SEC honors.
The Tide will open the season against Washington on Friday, Nov. 18 at 5:30 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum.
