After weeks of steadily moving up in the rankings, the University of Alabama men’s cross country team finally broke into the USCCCA Top 20.
So far this season, Alabama has claimed two meet victories and finished seventh and fourth respectively in two of the country’s biggest meets. Most recently, the Crimson Tide finished fourth at the prestigious Chile Pepper Festival.
“We’re very excited that we are running well enough to be regarded as a top 20 program,” said coach Joe Walker. “Coach Glance and I feel that the guys are progressing at just the right time and feel that our best is yet to come. We’re pleased with where we are at; but know that the two big meets coming up will determine where we finish.”
Alabama has been led by freshman Augustus Maiyo, who has been the top finisher in all meets for the Tide.
Alabama will take this week off before heading to Columbia, South Carolina for the SEC Championships on Saturday, October 29.
