The Alabama women's basketball team got the Stephany Smith era underway officially today as the team went through its first official practice of the 2005-06 season. Practice was held at the Shelton State Community College gymnasium, as renovations to the floor at Coleman Coliseum go through their final stages.
Smith, who enters her first season at the Capstone after eight successful years at Middle Tennessee State, took the Tide through a three-hour workout in today's practice. Alabama lost two starters from last year's 14-15 team.
The team completed their pre-season workouts on Tuesday with weight testing, concluding the unofficial portion of the season.
Alabama will play their first game of the season with an exhibition against West Alabama on Saturday, Nov. 5. The first official regular season contest will be played on Nov. 18 against the Huskies of Washington.
