The Alabama Swimming and Diving team got the 2005-06 season underway Friday afternoon with the annual Crimson-White intrasquad.
"It was good to stand up and race," Alabama head coach Eric McIlquham said. "Our freshmen looked good out there and the veterans are coming around nicely. It was good for everyone knock the rust off after several weeks of really hard work."
From here, Alabama has three weeks until it lines up against Tennessee in the Alabama Aquatic Center for its season opener.
"Now we have an idea of where we are, and how far we need to go before the Vols come to town on November 4," McIlquham said.
The Tide men finished 14th in the nation last year and return five All-Americans, including defending NCAA 200 breaststroke Champion Vlad Polyakov. The women were 21st nationally last year, and return four All-Americans including three-year All-American diver Crystal Rasmussen.
