TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama women's basketball team gets a break from the road on Thursday night when the Tide plays host to Southeastern Conference foe South Carolina at 7 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum.
The Crimson Tide hopes to get back on the winning track following a pair of tough road SEC losses last week. Alabama is 10-6 overall and is 1-2 in league play this season. Bama has enjoyed some success at home this season owning a 6-1 record.
South Carolina (6-11, 0-3 SEC) is also looking to find some winning consistency having dropped five of their last six games including a loss to Florida on Sunday. The Gamecocks are not only searching for their first win in SEC play but are also looking to post their first road win of the season (0-4).
Alabama owns a 13-7 edge in the all-time record against Carolina, with the pair having split their two games against each other a year ago. UA earned a hard fought 74-71 victory in the first meeting before suffering a 71-55 loss in Columbia in the rematch. Thursday's game is the first of two games between the duo again this season with the return contest slated a month later on Feb. 20 at USC.
Fox Sports Net South will be televising the UA-USC game live on Thursday night. Beth Mowins will handle the play-by-play with Debbie Antonelli and former Auburn head coach Joe Ciampi sharing the color analyst duties.
In addition, Sports Radio 1420 AM "The Tusk" and New Rock 90.7 FM will carry the Bama-Carolina game live on the radio and also over the internet at www.rolltide.com. Real time live statistics are also available at the Alabama athletic website: www.rolltide.com
Following Thursday's tilt with USC, the Crimson Tide returns to the road on Sunday at in-state rival Auburn. The Tide and Tigers will tip things off at 2 p.m.
