Although the season is long since over, the awards keep coming in for University of Alabama All-America first baseman Jackie McClain as she was named a Second Team Easton All-America.
The honor for McClain is her fourth, making her only the second player in Alabama history to earn four-time Easton All-America status.
She led the team in average, hitting at a .385 clip while recording a team high 69 hits and 47 walks. Her walk total was the second highest in a season.
“Jackie’s consistency in getting on base all year was instrumental in this honor and our success this season,” said Alabama Head Coach Patrick Murphy. “She’s in great company being only the second four-time All-American in school history.”
She finished her career with the second highest batting average (.387) in school history as well as finishing in the top two in slugging percentage, on-base percentage, hits, doubles, RBI, total bases, walks and intentional walks. Perhaps her most amazing stat was her strikeout to at-bat ratio of .057-to-1 (43 strikeouts in 747 at-bats).
Alabama fans can get a final look at McClain in an Alabama uniform when she, Ashley Courtney, Staci Ramsey and Stephanie VanBrakle travel to Montgomery, Alabama as part of a select softball team that will play against the U.S. Olympic team on Monday, June 14 at Montgomery’s Lagoon Park.
