Day Two: May 19
Most of us slept in this morning, while others got up early and ran. I had full intentions of joining this group, but my pal Mandy suggested that we eat breakfast first and run later. After breakfast, all intentions were lost. We then headed over to the UCLA Easton Softball Stadium, which is directly across from the gates of Bel Air.
Practice began at 12:45 and it was smooth and solid. The weather was beautiful, enthusiasm was in the air, great plays were made and balls soared out of the stadium.
After practice we drove to Jerry’s Famous Deli. Their sandwiches were piled high and we all had great lunches. This location was the home of our first celebrity sighting. Although most of us had no idea who she was, all parents and grandparents at home should remember “Sue Ellen” (Linda Gray) from the show “Dallas”.
We then walked over to the closest ice cream shop and bakery where we enjoyed yogurt and $1 ice cream cookie sandwiches.
For the rest of the afternoon , we relaxed and hung around the hotel. First and foremost, we are here to win the regional tournament. After we win tomorrow, our Friday game will be on ESPN. There are so many wonderful incentives to win!!
Although we were lost for an hour on the way to dinner tonight, we were able to enjoy the scenery and view the beautiful houses of LA. Dinner was at a little trendy Italian restaurant.
Our meeting then followed in which we watched film on Central Michigan and talked only about Central Michigan. Our mission is to win one game at a time. Since we feel we’re not respected by everyone out here, we will earn respect by giving every moment of every game our best effort. We are so ready and anxious to begin this tournament because we have nothing to lose and everything to gain. We are all prepared to lay everything on the line.
Well, it’s time to go to sleep. ROLL TIDE and God Bless Alabama Softball!!
