Tide Soccer Drops Exhibition Match Against Auburn

The University of Alabama soccer team dropped a 7-1 exhibition match to Auburn University this weekend in a charity match in Huntsville, but the result was overshadowed by the benefits raised to help CCFA (Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America).
“Our main focus for being there was to help benefit in the fight against Crohn’s and Colitis,” said Alabama Head Coach Don Staley. “All in all, it was a great event with the exception of the scoreboard.”
The Tigers jumped on top of the Tide early taking a 3-1 lead into halftime and never looked back.
“We made some mistakes and they capitalized on them,” said Staley. “We have some people that are little nicked up, but I have to tip my cap to Auburn, they’re loaded. We played for survival and wanted to put on a good show which I think we did for the first 45 minutes. We’ll look forward to the fall and the arrival of the freshman class and our meeting with Auburn later on down the line.”
Alabama will conclude its spring season this weekend when the team heads to Orange Beach for the Orange Beach Soccer Classic against Mississippi State. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 24.
