The 11th ranked University of Alabama softball team (28-9, 9-6) will look to end its four-game skid this weekend as the team travels to Oxford, Mississippi for a three-game conference series with the Ole Miss Rebels (11-21, 4-5).
The Crimson Tide has dropped five of its last six games including a series sweep at the hands of then No. 5 LSU last weekend in Tuscaloosa.
Ole Miss is coming into the series on a three-game winning streak including an upset over then No. 16 Florida.
Alabama leads the all-time series with Ole Miss 24-1 and is currently on a 13-game winning streak against the Rebels. Bama's only defeat in the series was a 3-1 loss to the Rebels in the final game of a four-game series in Oxford in the 1999 season.
Ole Miss is currently riding the successes of one of the top pitching staffs in school history anchored by freshman Mary Jane Callahan. Callahan currently ranks third on Ole Miss's season strikeout list (126) and she also currently has the lowest ERA ever in Rebel softball history with a 1.14 tally.
The Crimson Tide will counter Callahan and Ole Miss pitching with one of the league's top offenses. In conference games only the Alabama offense ranks first or second in 13 offensive categories. Bama leads the league in runs scored (80), hits (114), RBI (71), home runs (17), total bases (185) and walks (49).
The series is scheduled to begin on Saturday, April 3 with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader and will conclude on Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. single game. Fans can follow all the action at www.rolltide.com where national-award winner Jarrod Shadrick will call all the balls and strikes. The broadcast will also air in Tuscaloosa on New Rock 90.7 FM, WVUA. Live stats will also be available at www.rolltide.com.
