The University of Alabama men’s tennis team resumes Southeastern Conference play Friday, hitting the road to play at South Carolina on Friday and at No. 9 Florida on Sunday.
Alabama is 5-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play. South Carolina is 11-4 (0-2 SEC) and Florida is 8-3 (1-1 SEC).
“This is another big weekend of SEC play for us,” Alabama head coach Billy Pate said. “Any time you have a chance to get a conference win on the road you have to try to take advantage of that. We haven’t played our best tennis yet but I know that if we play up to our potential we can be successful this weekend.”
Alabama leads the series with South Carolina 13-11, their last meeting was a 4-3 Alabama win in Tuscalossa in 2003. Florida leads Alabama 24-15, their last match was a 4-0 Florida win in the 2003 SEC Tournament.
This weekend’s matches will mark the 6th - and 7th-straight matches away from Tuscaloosa.
The Tide is looking for an answer in doubles. They have dropped the doubles point in their last six dual matches. Coach Pate has experimented with eight different combinations so far this season.
