TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama women’s tennis team will face a daunting out-of-conference challenge on Sunday at noon, taking on the 17th-ranked Michigan Wolverines at the UA Student Recreation Tennis Facility.
Alabama is 7-4 (3-1 SEC) on the year and has won its last three matches while Michigan is undefeated at 7-0.
“We are really excited to play a team of their magnitude that is out of our conference and out of region,” Alabama head coach Jenny Mainz said. “They’ve certainly had a strong season so far, and they have two singles players ranked as well as two doubles teams ranked, but I always love the opportunity to play good teams from other conferences.”
“We’re right at midpoint and hopefully ready to surge. This will be another great opportunity for us and help us in the following weeks of SEC play.”
The UA women’s tennis team will be in action in another manner on Saturday, participating in a tennis fun-day at Bowers Park Jack Evans courts from 1-3 p.m.
The Southeastern Conference schedule resumes in full force next weekend when the Crimson Tide faces SEC Eastern division foes South Carolina and 3rd-ranked Florida in Tuscaloosa.
