The Alabama Gymnastics team remains in third place in the latest national rankings released today.
The Crimson Tide, which finished its home season last Friday with a win over No. 20 Arkansas, still leads the nation by average score, but holds a 197.325 regional qualifying score, which determines the rankings until the NCAA Championships in April.
UCLA remains No. 1, while Georgia stands just ahead of the Tide at No. 2. LSU jumped six spots in the rankings to land at No. 4 and Stanford is No. 5. Utah stands in sixth, followed by Florida and Iowa State. Arizona and Oklahoma round out the top-10.
The Tide is second on the vault, fifth on the uneven bars, seventh on the floor exercise and 10th on the balance beam. Individually, sophomore Ashley Miles is ranked second on the vault, followed by junior Alexis Brion in 11th and senior Jeana Rice is 12th. Rice is also ranked on the uneven bars, coming in at No. 8.
Part of the RQS formula dicates that a team or athlete must have three away scores to figure in the rankings. Neither Rice nor Miles has three aways scores on the floor exercise, and are currently unranked for that reason despite very high overall averages.
Alabama has the weekend off before closing out the regular season Friday, March 12 at Michigan.
