Alabama senior Jeana Rice was named Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week for her performance against No. 4 Florida.
Rice, the defending SEC Gymnast of the Year, led the No. 1 ranked Crimson Tide to its fifth highest score in school history, 197.925, on the way to a win against the Gators. Individually, the Longwood, Fla. native scored a season high 39.700 in the all-around and won the uneven bars and balance beam.
Rice has been the conference’s most dominating and consistent gymnast over the past two seasons. She has won 11 of 13 regular season all-around competition and was the SEC all-around champion in 2003.
Rice and her Tide teammates take to the road this weekend, facing No. 16 Auburn Friday (Feb. 6) at 7 p.m.
