Women's Track and Field Team Shines at LSU Twilight

The Alabama women's track and field team took a small group to Baton Rouge for LSU Twilight, a final tune up before the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships, and came away with some big results.
Sophomore Aymara Albury, who posted the second best distance in UA history in the shot put last week, won the shot with a throw of 48 feet and .75 inches. Junior Chafree Bain took sixth in the shot put with a throw of 39-5.
In the weight throw, sophomore All-American Beth Mallory took second with a throw of 61-8.5, with Albury just behind in second place with a throw of 59 feet. Bain was fifth with a 53-10.25 effort.
In the 400m dash, sophomore Kou Luogon raced to a second place, 56.10 finish. Junior Christy Fairley was ninth in the 400m with a time of 58.63.
Freshman Rachel Wilson had a busy evening, posting top-10 finishes in three events. Sh took sixth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.80. Wilson was seventh in the 200m dash with a time of 25.25 and eighth in the 400m dash with a 58.44.
The SEC Indoor Championships are next for the Crimson Tide, Feb. 27-29 in Lexington, Ky.
