Women's Cross Country Runs Strong at MSU Invite

The Alabama Women’s Cross Country team posted five top-20 finishes at the change of pace, 3,000-meter, Mississippi State University Short Course Invite Friday (Oct. 22) in Starkville.
Sophomore Julia Hicks was the Tide’s top finisher, taking fourth overall with a time of 10:32.59. Sophomores Megan Carnes and Elizabeth Wancowicz took sixth and seventh respectively. Carnes posted a 10:37.96 while Wancowicz went 10:46.90.
Junior Blair Davis and senior Virnetta Greene rounded out the Tide’s finishes taking 17th and 18th. Davis ran an 11:24.29 and Greene crossed the line at 11:31.71.
This meet was the Tide’s final tune-up before the Southeastern Conference Championship being held Saturday, Oct. 30 in Fayetteville, Ark. Alabama finished ninth last season at the conference meet.
