The Alabama Women’s Cross Country Team will make its 2003 debut Friday (Sept. 5) at the Belmont Opener in Nashville, Tenn.
The 2-mile race gets underway at 5:30 p.m. at Percy Warner Park. In addition to the race’s host school, Belmont, the Crimson Tide will face Vanderbilt, UAB and Western Kentucky among others.
“This is a good race for us to start out with,” Alabama cross country coach Steve Keith said. “It will give us a good test of our physical fitness. With the way the weather is shaping up, the race conditions should be very favorable.”
The Tide has six rookies on its roster going into the season and all of them are slated for duty this weekend along with three veterans.
