The University of Alabama men’s tennis team completed its first day of play at the University of Miami Fall Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla. Friday.
Day one of the 2003-2004 fall season saw mixed results for head coach Billy Pate’s squad. Joseph Jung, a freshman from Deerfield Beach, Fla., scored a win in his first-ever collegiate match, defeating Central Florida’s Gabriel Strangberg in three sets.
Jung teamed with senior Chris Gostek in doubles, falling to UCF’s Caitlin Bradu and Antonio Sierra. UA Freshman Mike Green defeated Miami's Jonathan Ounjain in straight sets in afternoon matches.
"It was good for us to get into some matches and get our feet wet," Alabama head coach Billy Pate said. Overall, I feel like it was a good day, but I know it can be better. We have to try to come out tomorrow and bounce back."
