Women's Tennis Player Earns Academic All-America Honor

Stefanie Leung, representing the University of Alabama women's tennis team, was named to the 2003 Verizon/CoSIDA District IV Women's At-Large Academic All-America second team this week.
Leung was a senior on the 2003 squad and provided leadership on and off the court as a model student and a solid doubles player in the Tide lineup. Among her numerous academic honors, Lueng has been a Gamma Beta Phi National Honorary and was the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration Gladysm Poe Award winner in 2002. She was an Academic All-SEC team member her junior and senior years.
"Stefanie is very deserving of this prestigious award," head coach Jenny Mainz said. "She has done a tremendous job of leading our team academically. She is very committed to her academics and has achieved a lofty level scholastically. She has set an example of what we want our student-athletes to accomplish in their academic efforts at the University of Alabama."
The Verizon CoSIDA awards are voted on by sports information directors from schools around the country.
