Alabama Men's Tennis Signs Top Canadian Prospect

University of Alabama men’s tennis head coach Billy Pate has signed top Canadian tennis Jordie Kindervater to a national letter of intent, the head coach announced Wednesday.
“Jordie is a tremendous athlete,” Pate said. “He’s one top players in Canada I expect him to make immediate impact on our squad. He will be a key for us in the upcoming season as we try to replace seven seniors from last season.”
Kindervater represented Newfoundland twice at the Canada Summer Games and helped the team to a 5th-place finish in 1997 as the youngest athlete on the team. He has been ranked as high as 8th in Canada for singles and fifth in doubles and was a Newfoundland Provincia Junior Champion. He advanced to the quarterfinals of the Canadian open in April of this year.
Three time Athlete of the year at high school/junior high and will graduate from Lorg Elgin High School in June. He competed in soccer, hockey, basketball and track during his prep career, and his track accomplishments include two gold and one bronze medal regionally in southern Ontario in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay.
