With play moved to Vanderbilt's five indoor courts due to inclement weather, Vanderbilt scored convincing wins over Alabama at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take the opening point of the match. Vanderbilt took the first set in all five of the first singles matches played.
The Dores then put The Tide into a deeper hole scoring two singles wins at No. 3 over junior Chris Gostek and at No. 4 over junior Christian Brodersen, the Tide's two most successful players this season. Brodersen and Gostek were each 16-4 in singles play entering the match, tied with one another for the team lead.
Scott Brown clinched the match for the 'Dores with a win at No. 5 over Alabama's Geoff Hiscox with a 7-5, 6-2 win.
The Crimson Tide winds up regular season play next week with a match in Birmingham on Wednesday against UAB and on Saturday at arch-rival Auburn. The SEC tournament takes place the following week in Oxford, Miss.
