TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama men's golf team has added a one day regional tournament to its schedule. The Crimson Tide will travel to Auburn this weekend to compete Sunday in a five-team tournament that will consist of 18 holes. Auburn, Georgia, Florida and Georgia State will join Alabama in the field at the Auburn University Club.
"We added it after all the rainouts which gave us three extra days," said Alabama golf coach Jay Seawell of rain problems which cancelled the LSU Intercollegiate in October and washed out the final round in Alabama's own Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate that same month. "Auburn is hosting the NCAA regional at that course, and this will give us a chance to preview the course. Not only does it give us an extra round on the course but it provides us a chance to put together a positive round before we go to SEC's later in the week."
The 2003 Southeastern Conference Men's Golf Championships are April 25-27 and will be held at Sea Island, Ga.
