For the second straight weekend the No. 17 ranked (USA Today/NFCA) Alabama softball team will take a back seat to Mother Nature.
Heavy rain in southwest Georgia forced play to be postponed in the eighth annual NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga.
Six games were in progress when play was halted around 1:30 EST Friday. Play will resume on Saturday at noon with the conclusion of the halted games.
The Tide was leading Illinois State 3-0 with two outs and a runner on third in the top of the fifth inning.
Play will resume at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bama will follow the conclusion of its game with ISU with a 1:00 p.m. game against No. 4 ranked Cal. The Tide will close out the day with a 9:00 p.m. game against No. 23 Notre Bame. All times are EST.
