Southern Illinois Moves to 2-0 in Bama Bash!

Southern Illinois (6-0) picked up its second win of the 2003 Bama Bash by defeating Winthrop (0-1) 4-1 in the second game of the tournament.
Renee Mueller moved to 3-0 for the season for the Salukis by pitching three and a third innings of hitless relief.
Lindsey Bonnell paced Southern Illinois from the leadoff spot by collecting three hits and scoring two runs. Also leading the way for the Salukis were Katie Jordan and Kelly Creek with two hits apiece. Jordan and Creek also drove in one run each.
Shahna Ashard (0-1) took the loss for the Eagles in their season opener. Kjersti Johnson drove in Winthrop's only run of the game.
Southern Illinois will next be in action tomorrow in game six of the 2003 Bama Bash! against Alabama at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Winthrop rounds out their first day action in game 3 of the tournament against Alabama.
