NEW ORLEANS - The University of Alabama women's golf team sits in sixth place at the Tulane Invitational following 36 holes of opening round play on Monday.
The Crimson Tide carded a round of 319 in the morning session at the English Turn Golf & Country Club then trimmed 10 strokes from their play shooting a 309 in the afternoon session. UA finished day one competition with a 36-hole total of 628.
"The wind and cold temperatures really challenged us in the morning," said UA head coach Betty Palmer. "When the sun finally came out we played pretty solid. I thought we had a good second round. Hopefully we can build on our play from the afternoon for the final 18 holes."
Sophomore Darby Sligh was the Tide's low scorer for the day firing a 76 in round one and a one-over-par 73 in the second round. Sligh's two round score of 149 has her tied for second in the individual medallist competition.
