TUSCALOOSA – The University of Alabama women’s basketball team will hold their final preseason tune-up on Tuesday night when the Tide plays host to the Premier Players at 7 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum.
The Crimson Tide, who have been practicing for nearly a month, look to continue their winning ways in their exhibition season. Bama posted a 98-66 victory over Berry College on Nov. 9 in their 2003-04 debut.
The Premier Players are a traveling basketball squad made up of a group of former collegiate players. Alabama fans will be familiar with several names on the opponent’s roster including former Arkansas standout India Lewis and a trio of former Florida players Tonya Washington, Tiffany Travis and Brandi McCain. The Alabama game marks Premier Players 12th and final game of their tour. The team has posted a 4-6 record thus far and will play at Arkansas on Monday night.
Admission to Tuesday night’s contest is free and the first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive a 2003-04 Alabama Women’s Basketball magnet schedule card.
Following their final exhibition game, Alabama will then turn their sights toward the start of the regular season. The Crimson Tide heads to Ann Arbor, Mich., next week for their season opener at Michigan on Nov. 24. UA will participate in the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo., on Nov. 28-29 before opening hosting Jacksonville State on Dec. 2 in their home opener.
