The Crimson Tide men’s tennis team will have three individuals in competition Thursday at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships in Atlanta, Ga.
Seniors Friedman and William Boyles will compete in singles and doubles competition while Michael Ray Pallares will represent the Tide in singles play.
Alabama head coach Billy Pate said the event will be a challenge for the Tide players because most SEC schools will take several top players to the event.
“We are trying to get the guys who haven’t played that much in past and use this opportunity to get them some experience for us,” Pate said. “Freidman and Boyles are going start at doubles for us. It’s really important for them regardless of how they do to garner some playing time there.”
The SEC Indoor Championship is the final individual tournament of the season and serves as a lead-in to dual-match play, which features head-to-head team competition. The Tide’s dual season will begin Sunday, January 26 as they host matches against Troy State and Southern Mississippi at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.
