For the first time in over three years, the University of Alabama women’s soccer team can find its name etched among the ranked teams in the country as the Tide checks in at No. 10 in the Southeast Region according to the NSCAA.
“I’m so happy for these kids,” said an elated Don Staley, head coach of the Crimson Tide. “This is a huge step for this program to get back to where we used to be.”
The Crimson Tide has jumped out to a 7-1 record including Friday night’s win over then No. 10 in the Southeast, UAB. The last time Alabama found itself in any poll was at the beginning of the 1999 season when they opened with a 3-0 record and an upset of then No. 19 Vanderbilt and the Crimson Tide jumped to No. 18 in the country.
Alabama returns to action this weekend when the team hosts the Rice Owls in Friday night match before heading to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on the Wofford Terriers.
