Freshman Golfer Among Top Ten at SEC Championships

SEA ISLAND, GA. - Clint Provost, a freshman on the University of Alabama golf team, is playing like a veteran in his first visit to the Southeastern Conference Men's Golf Championships. Provost goes into Sunday's third and final round tied at 9th place at three over par.
Provost shot 75 in Friday's opening round of 18 holes and followed it with a 68 on Saturday on the par 70 Seaside golf course. He moves into the final round just six storkes off of the tournament's individual leader, Auburn's Jay Munday (70-67/137) who is three under par.
Auburn leads the field of 12 teams (285-282/567). Florida and LSU are tied at second (578), Tennessee is fourth (581), Georgia is fifth (582), Vanderbilt is sixth (585), Arkansas is seventh (589), South Carolina is eighth (591), Alabama, making a two spot move up on Saturday is ninth (305-289/594), Ole Miss tenth (598), Kentucky 11th (599) and Mississippi State is 12th (607).
Provost has Alabama's best individual standing. Jan Are Larsen is tied at 30th (72-77/149), Lars Brovold is tied at 32nd (80-70/150), Nick Rousey tied at 41st (78-74/152), and Wesley Pate has shot 84-88/172.
