Kimani Finishes Eleventh at NCAA Cross Country Championships

In the final cross country meet of his collegiate career, David Kimani did not disappoint achieving All-American status with an 11th place finish while helping lead the team to a No. 28 finish overall.
Kimani ran a time of 29:48.0 on the 10k course in Terre Haute, Indiana, just under 48 seconds behind winner Jorge Torres of Colorado. Fellow senior, Peter Kiprono was the next Tide runner to cross the finish line, doing so in 83rd place with a time of 30:59.8.
Freshman Tyler Stanfield came in at No. 176 with a time of 31:54.6. Also scoring for Alabama were Todd Fayant, a senior, (No. 217) with a mark of 32:37.4 and sophomore Kevin McDonough (No. 240) with a time of 33:21.6.
Freshman Aaron Norton finished out the day for the Tide with a time of 34:14.9 which did not score for Alabama.
Torres took the individual title with a time of 29:04.7 while the Stanford Cardinal captured the team title scoring a meet low 47 points, 60 points ahead of Wisconsin, the meet runner-up.
Four-time cross country All-American Kimani and his teammates return to action in January when the Alabama men’s track team begins its indoor season on January 18 at the SEC 6-Way meet in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
