
Tide Women Conclude Play at Mercedes-Benz Golf Championship

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Alabama women’s golf team carded their best round of the weekend on Sunday posting a final round 324 at the Mercedes-Benz Women’s Championship.
The Crimson Tide finished with a three-day total of 981 earning a 14th-place tied with LSU. The three-day event was hosted by the University of Tennessee at the par 72, 5,985-yard Gettysvue Polo, Golf and Country Club and featured a field of 15 teams.
Junior Anna Strandberg was the Tide’s top performer firing a final round 77 on Sunday to finish tied for 54th with a tournament total 241. Sophomore Darby Sligh also saved her best for last shooting a third round 78 to post a 54-hole 245 (T-65th).
Other golfers competing at the Mercedes for Alabama included Jenny Bouvin with an 83, Allison Akin at 88 and Mandy Tedder with an 86.
Auburn captured the team title with a three-day 899 including a final round of 292. The Swedish Junior Nationals finished in second at 906 with Florida (911), North Carolina (912) and Purdue (919) rounding out the Top Five in team competition. Tar Heel Ashley Prange led wire-to-wire in the individual medalist event earning the crown with a three round 218.
Alabama continues its fall tournament schedule next weekend when the Tide travels to Greenville, S.C., to participate in the Furman Lady Paladin on Oct. 25-27.
