TUSCALOOSA – University of Alabama head men’s tennis coach Billy Pate announced Tuesday that Euisik Jung of Deerfield Beach, Fla., has signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period. Jung will attend school and play tennis at the University of Alabama.
A senior at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Jung currently is ranked No. 108 in the International Tennis Federation’s world junior rankings. In September Jung earned his way to the main draw of the 2002 U.S. Open juniors as a qualifier and advanced to the round of 32 before losing to Wimbledon junior singles champion Todd Reid of Australia.
“I am extremely pleased to have Euisik join our program at the University of Alabama,” said Pate. “Not only is he one of the top junior talents in the U.S. right now, he also displays tremendous maturity and character; areas we value quite strongly in this program. He has vast experience in tournament play, both in the U.S. and abroad. I expect him to make an immediate impact and enjoy a very successful career as a member of the Crimson Tide family.”
