Alabama Women Host Premier Players in First Exhibition Game

TUSCALOOSA – The University of Alabama women’s basketball team will get their first real game action as the Crimson Tide welcomes the Premier Players squad to Coleman Coliseum for an exhibition game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night.
The Crimson Tide is coming off its 13th consecutive winning season and 11th straight postseason appearance last year. UA returns 10 letterwinners from the 2001-02 squad that posted a 19-12 record and reached the quarterfinals of the WNIT.
Premier Players is a group of former college standouts that travel around the country in the preseason playing some of the nation’s top teams. Most of the team members also play professionally overseas or in the WNBA. Alabama played the Premier Players last season and lost a shootout 109-101.
As part of the “Beat Auburn Beat Hunger” food drive competition, fans attending the game on Tuesday night our encouraged to bring a canned food item to donate to Alabama’s total. The food drive is an annual competition between the two in-state rivals.
Following Tuesday’s contest, the Tide will play their second and final exhibition game of the preseason on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. versus Berry College. The Crimson Tide opens the regular season at Samford on Nov. 22.
