
Alabama Women's Cross Country Wins Clemson Meet

Steve Keith picked up his first win as head coach of the Alabama women’s cross country team Saturday when his runners earned three top-10 finishes and two more in the top-20 to score a meet low 48 points at the Clemson Invitational.
The meet marked the Tide’s longest race of the season at six kilometers. Alabama will race the 6k distance through the rest of the season.
Junior Virnetta Greene posted her best finish of the season, taking fourth place (23:14) to pace the Tide. Freshman Nicole Abram wasn’t far behind in fifth place (23:36) while sophomore Ashley Roberts grabbed ninth place (24:05).
Senior Katie Kelly took 16th (24:41) while freshman Emily Green took finished 20th (25:11). Junior Kara Nowak took 22nd (25:18).
The Tide returns to action Oct. 19 with the Chili Pepper Invitational, another 6k race, in Fayetteville, Ark.
